The deal, in plain language: what SnapGut does, what it does not claim, how paying works, and what we each agree to.
What SnapGut is
SnapGut is a food and symptom diary that looks for patterns in your own log. It compares how often symptoms follow meals containing a given food against your own baseline of meals without it, and shows you the result with its confidence attached.
That is an association, not a cause. SnapGut is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not an allergy or intolerance test. Nothing it shows you is medical advice. If your symptoms are severe, persistent, or worrying, talk to a clinician — and take your export with you, that is part of what it is for.
Our food tagging is coarse keyword matching, not portion-aware laboratory data, so treat a trigger group as a hint worth testing rather than a verdict.
Your account
You sign in with an email address. We send a six-digit code, valid for ten minutes, and accept a handful of wrong guesses before you need a new one. There is no password, which means access to your inbox is access to your account — keep it secure.
One account per email address. Use an address you control, and do not share your account with someone else.
Free and Pro
Logging is free, and stays free: manual logging, the on-device statistics, the food ranking, CSV export, and JSON backup are never behind a paywall. Pro buys AI, not access to your own history.
Pro unlocks unlimited AI meal recognition and AI insights, plus the cross-device sync destinations. Free accounts get a small trial of AI actions, shared across recognition and insights, so you can see what it does before paying for it.

Paying, renewing, and cancelling
- Payments run through Stripe's own checkout. We never see your card details.
- A monthly or yearly plan renews until you cancel. A lifetime purchase is a single payment with no renewal.
- You can cancel from the billing screen in the app, which opens Stripe's customer portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active for the period you have already paid for.
- If Pro lapses, nothing on your device is taken away. Every entry is intact, and export and backup keep working. AI features and sync stop until Pro is active again.
- Prices can change. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Your log is yours
You own what you log. We claim no rights over your entries, your notes, or your photos, and we do not use them to train anything. Your log lives on your device, and only goes anywhere else if you switch on a sync destination yourself. The privacy page sets out exactly what is stored where.
You can export everything at any time, free, and you can delete your cloud copy or your whole account whenever you like — both are controls in the app, not a request you have to send us.
Fair use of the service
Use the app as a person using an app. Please do not try to work around the rate limits or the request-size limits, drive the AI endpoints automatically, attempt to reach another user's data, or probe the service for weaknesses. We may limit or close an account that does.
What the AI produces
Meal recognition and insight text are generated by a model, and models get things wrong. Check the ingredients it lists before you rely on them, especially if you avoid a food for medical reasons, and edit them when they are off — your corrections are what make the pattern analysis worth reading.
Availability
SnapGut is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be available at any particular moment or that it will suit a particular purpose. We may change, add, or remove features as the product develops.
Logging works offline because it is stored on your device. AI recognition, AI insights, and sync need a network connection and depend on services we do not run, so they can be unavailable even when the app is not.
Keep your own copies of anything you would hate to lose. Browser storage can be evicted when a device runs short of space, which is why export and backup are free and always available.
Ending it
You can stop using SnapGut at any time. Delete your account in the app to remove what we hold, and clear the site's data in your browser to remove the local copy. We may close an account that abuses the service or that we are required to close.
Changes to these terms
When the product changes, this page changes with it. Continuing to use the app after a change means the updated terms apply.
